Note: The following list contains examples of types of situations where you might call 9-1-1. You should call 9-1-1 for anything that requires an emergency response from Police, Fire, or Medical personnel, not just those situations listed here.
Call 9-1-1 to Report Emergencies Such as:
- • My house is on fire
- • A man has been shot
- • A woman is threatening to jump off a bridge
- • My son had an accident and I can’t stop the bleeding
- • I think I’m having a heart attack
- • Someone suspicious is entering my neighbor’s house
- • Someone with a gun is robbing a store
- • I need a paramedic
When you call, we need to know as much as you can tell us about:
- • What has occurred?
- • Where did it occur?
- • When did it occur?
- • Any injuries?
- • Were any weapons involved?
- • Any associated vehicles? (Color, Year, Make, Body Style, License Plate)
- • Suspect description? (Sex, Race, Age, Height, Weight, Hair, Eyes, Glasses, Tattoos, Marks, Scars, Complexion, Hat, Coat, Shirt, Pants, Shoes)
