The animal shelter has many wonderful dogs and cats available for adoption.

Persons interested in adopting animals from Grass Valley Animal Control should go to the animal shelter during our regular business hours, at 556 B Freeman Lane, in Grass Valley.
Our regular business hours are as follows:

WEEKDAYS 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Note: The animal shelter may be closed at any time for an animal emergency, when an officer will not be available at the shelter.

There is a $15.00 adoption fee charged for each dog and $12.00 for each cat. There is a refundable spay/neuter deposit charged for each unaltered dog or cat. The spay/neuter deposit charged for each unaltered dog is $75.00 and for each unaltered cat the fee is $40.00. The deposit is refundable once proof is shown that the adopted animal is spayed/neutered. Note: It is required that each unaltered animal that is adopted from the Grass Valley/Nevada City Animal Shelter be spayed/neutered. You may spay/neuter your adopted dog or cat at the veterinary clinic of your choice.

It is the policy of the Animal Control Division to offer as many animals as possible for adoption. However, there is no guarantee, stated or implied, that any animal will be adopted. Adoption is dependent upon the animals appeal to the public. Animals that are determined not to be suitable for adoption because of temperament, poor physical condition, or age shall not be offered for adoption.
